Barnby Dun Old School Trust
Annual Trustee Report for the year 2010 / 2011
I am pleased to report on a year which has built upon the successful activities of previous years.
The Tuesday morning Coffee Drop-in has built upon its previous success and continues to provide a focus for the community at the hall. I would like to formally thank May and her team for their efforts throughout the year, may it continue. You are all a very valuable asset to the association.
Educational activities have continued although we seem to be struggling for numbers to attend these courses that DMBC are providing. Do we need to look at this, and do we need some new input / ideas into the computer room to bring it into more use?. Although we are down with course attendance we still continued to be one of the top venues running council Adult and Community courses. Publicity we have through the Church magazine is our main advertising, thanks to Jan for keeping us in the village eye. Thanks to Trudy, who along with the arranging of courses and our link to AFCL also does all the bookings of the hall for the parties.
Alan Hudson from Amy Computers has joined the committee and is proving to be a back bone of the committee not only with shifting chairs on a Monday evening but also being on hand for general information and helping with queries from the users of the hall.
We have Liz our Secretary who is invaluable assistant to the minutes, Les the Treasurer who keeps the books, balances and sorts out many unseen items . Tim the DIY maintenance man who is always there keeping the hall in tip top condition. Diane and Alan who will tackle just about anything. David Nevitt our local ward councillor has joined the committee and is our link to DMBC. Dave Atkinson. has become a Trustee and continues with the Health and Safety keeping us in line with all compliances. Also Angie who keeps the electronic books and keeping the charity commission informed of our years work. All who have proved to be irreplaceable and special thanks to them for their continued support.
Team work is the key to the success of this association may it long continue.
The hall continues to be used for recreational purposes with regular bookings for Weight Watchers, Beavers, Dance exercise, Social Dancing, Tai Chi, and Birthday parties etc. This has ensured that the Barnby Dun Community Association is making full use of this excellent facility for the village.
The old School could not continue with out the help of the volunteers who give so generously of their time and expertise. I would like to record our formal thanks to each and every one of them and hope their interest in the old school will continue from strength to strength.
