Garden Villagers of Barnby Dun with Kirk Sandall

Summer planting will be taking place in the near future with more mature plants that will hopefully establish themselves quickly.

At the annual plant sale the fantastic sum of £ 362.05 was raised, thank you to all who supported us, the money will be put to good use in purchasing plants and funding further projects.

The group was thrilled to receive £400.00 from the Peacehaven Coffee Club who work so hard each week to support local charities and provide a warm welcome to all.

We extend our grateful thanks for this very generous donation.

On Heritage weekend the group will support a display at St Oswald's Church at Old Sandall on Saturday 19th June and at Barnby Dun Church on Sunday 20th June.

We hope that you all enjoy the Summer flowers and hopefully some sunshine.

Armthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team

You may already be aware that South Yorkshire Police have recently been identified as the most improved Force in the Country by HMIC, and the Force with the best prospects for sustained improvement during the next twelve months. Our crime performance during 09/10 has been excellent  However recently our area has been subject to a slight increase in burglaries, this would appear to be a problem across the whole Doncaster district, Officers throughout the district have been following up enquiries and working to reduce these incidents. Residents can assist by reporting any suspicious incidents (01142 20 20 20) or information , and these will be followed up. Contact can be made through the Safer Neighbourhood Team on 01302 385153 or alternatively crimestoppers on 0800555111. Patrols are being targeted to monitor particular areas and by working together these incidents will be reduced.

We are coming up to the holiday season and fingers crossed the weather will be with us this year !!  Residents should be mindful to ensure that their properties are left secure with possibly a neighbour or member of the family keeping an eye on it whilst they enjoy their holiday. The use of timers on lamps and not to close curtains is an easy crime reduction measure to take.

Community Meetings are continuing  and the next one is to be held on 3rd June at Edenthorpe Community Centre at 7pm. Regular drop in sessions are held in Barnby Dun, Kirk Sandall and Edenthorpe, times, dates and locations can be viewed on the posters displayed through the 3 villages.  Officers from the Team are also holding “Meet the team get together” at Tesco Stores Edenthorpe on a monthly basis, residents can pop down to any of these to raise any concerns or ask for advice.

If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Sharon ,     ( Sharon Fletcher, Armthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team)
